Salary:

As a member of our Finance & Accounting Team, you will be an integral part of a thriving organization and have autonomy to make an impact to the financial and control processes. The primary responsibilities of this role are to oversee the general ledger and treasury team (currently two direct reports) and play a key role in the month-end closing process, including preparing and reviewing certain journal entries and preparation of the monthly financial statements.

The Accounting Manager knows the Companys accounting systems and chart of accounts to act as a subject matter expert for the accounting and finance team to ensure consistency of reporting practices. They are a self-starter that is proactive in identifying and addressing any potential issues, putting a plan in place to resolve, and following through to the finish. They have strong communication skills to be able to collaborate with the accounting operations and partner management teams within the organization as well as external vendor contacts. They oversee and manage two Staff Accountants at present but has autonomy and a valued opinion in shaping how the team structure progresses into the future as the business grows.

This role will be primarily on-site based at the corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC. This role reports to the Corporate Controller but will have ample opportunity to work directly with the CFO and other members of leadership (including senior leadership) within the organization regularly.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation and/or review of journal entries and assigned general ledger account reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Own assigned controls for SOX purposes including the preparation of documentation where a preparer and reviewing documentation as an approver
  • Oversee and manage the month end close checklist and balance sheet reconciliation process including administering FloQast
  • Partner with the Corporate Controller to maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of systems, processes, and data
  • Oversee fixed assets listing, preparation and filing of annual business personal property listing
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit and various other third-party audits
  • Assign, delegate, and coordinate the work of staff to ensure department objectives are met timely
  • Oversee, support, coach and develop a team of 2 members to ensure accurate, effective, and efficient operations
  • Seek opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy through documented process improvement.
  • Perform other accounting duties as assigned

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or related discipline with a strong understanding of GAAP
  • At least 5+ years of accounting or audit experience including 2 years supervising direct reports
  • Experience in a SOX control environment
  • Experience with large accruals and prepaid expenses
  • CPA a plus but not required
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, agility and embrace change within a dynamic environment in a rapidly growing company is a must
  • Experience with exchange rates and working in various foreign currencies
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Sage Intacct or other related financial software
  • Experience in the sports, entertainment and hospitality industries would be highly relevant for the role, but is not required

Skills

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and general ledger accounting
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written and must be able to interact with internal and external parties and various levels of management
