Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join its Intellectual Property team in Chicago. This position offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative group, focusing on drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a variety of technical fields.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to various technologies, including electrical engineering, computer science, and related fields.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and develop tailored strategies for patent protection.
  • Conduct patent searches and prepare detailed reports regarding patentability and infringement risks.
  • Assist in managing client relationships and provide strategic counsel on intellectual property matters.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in patent law and related technical fields.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • State Bar admission and registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Strong technical background, preferably with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information.
  • Motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar.
