Role: Staff R&D System Applications EngineerLocation: San Jose, CA (onsite)Salary: Base up to 190k, total package including bonus and stock $400-500k! Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic engineer to join our R&D Systems Applications Engineering (SAE) team. This global organization supports customers in designing, integrating, and maintaining enterprise-level products. As an SAE, you will collaborate with top-tier OEMs/ODMs, Field Application Engineers (FAE), and internal design engineers to launch new customer products and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.Key ResponsibilitiesIssue Analysis and Resolution: Analyze, debug, and identify root causes of issues within PCIe switch products, collaborating with development teams (firmware, software, IC hardware, or board hardware) to provide solutions.Customer Guidance: Advise OEM and Cloud customers on integrating PCIe switch products into GP-GPUs, AI/ML platforms, storage servers, and custom designs. This includes architecture reviews, schematic reviews, layout reviews, design-in support, and training on product features.Documentation: Develop product documentation for customers implementing PCIe switch products.Industry Collaboration: Build relationships and collaborate with industry partners to deliver value to mutual customers.Train Field Applications Engineers, Sales Engineers, and support staff on the features and uses of PCIe switch products.Tool Development: Create tools and processes to enhance debug efficiency and customer satisfaction.Travel: Occasional travel, including international trips, may be required.Requirements/QualificationsTechnical Expertise: Experience with firmware, software, hardware, and PCIe protocol-level debugging. Proficiency in developing and debugging C code.Embedded Software: Prior experience in embedded software debugging or development (firmware, drivers, BIOS) using PCIe technology.Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or related field with 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering or related field with 6 years of relevant experience.Desirable SkillsExperience with NIC, SAS/SATA protocols, RAID, ARM or PPC embedded processors, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
