Principal Algorithm Scientist - MedTech Irvine, CA $150,000 ‒ $170,000 Annually Overview We are partnered with an innovative medical device company to find and recruit a Principal Scientist for their Algorithm team. The Principal Scientist role will provide the opportunity to contribute to life-saving technology through advanced algorithm development and optimization. As a key member of the team, you will help drive technical innovation and refine critical algorithms used in medical device solutions. Responsibilities Algorithm Development: Use mathematical modeling and advanced techniques (including statistical methods, machine learning, and optimization) to tackle complex cardiac signal reconstruction challenges. Design and implement faster numerical solvers to improve algorithm performance. Collaboration: Work closely with the software engineering team to integrate efficient, real-time algorithms into the system. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and improve system capabilities. Prototyping and Validation: Rapidly prototype novel algorithms, validate and refine methods using clinical data, and evaluate contributions from both internal and external collaborators. System Lifecycle Management: Ensure thorough documentation and maintain design requirements throughout the lifecycle, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and quality standards. Leadership & Innovation: Foster a collaborative and innovative environment by mentoring team members, promoting strategic thinking, and driving consensus among stakeholders. Champion the development of novel algorithmic solutions. Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a scientific/engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. Expertise in algorithms related to imaging, signal reconstruction, optimization, and inverse problems. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to approach complex mathematical challenges using numerical methods. Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, and C/C++ for algorithm development, signal processing, and analysis.
