An AS9100-certified aerospace FAMILY OWNED machine-shop is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to oversee our precision CNC machining operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC programming, machining processes, sheet metal manufacturing, and team leadership. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and the ability to manage production while maintaining the highest quality standards in aerospace manufacturing. Key Responsibilities: CNC Operations Management: Oversee daily operations of CNC lathe and mill machining processes to ensure efficient production and on-time delivery of high-precision aerospace parts. Plan, schedule, and allocate resources for optimal production flow. Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of 15-20 CNC programmers, machinists, and operators, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Manage team performance, provide training, and ensure alignment with production goals. Hands-On CNC Programming & Setup: Directly program and set up CNC lathes and mills (3- and 4-axis) using Mastercam and BobCAD/CAM software. Optimize toolpaths, troubleshoot programming issues, and support team members in achieving precision standards. Quality Assurance: Maintain compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001:2015 standards while ensuring machining tolerances meet exacting specifications (down to 1-2000ths of an inch). Collaborate with quality control teams to resolve issues and maintain high standards. Machine Setup & Maintenance: Supervise and assist with CNC machine setup, calibration, and troubleshooting. Partner with maintenance staff to maximize equipment performance and uptime. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and GD&T specifications to guide programming and setups. MRP System Management: Utilize MRP systems, such as JobBOSS (Rev 18), to manage production schedules, inventory, and workflow. Process Optimization: Lead initiatives to improve machining processes, minimize waste, and maximize throughput in a lean manufacturing environment. Customer Communication: Interface with clients and upper management to provide production updates, address concerns, and ensure project satisfaction. Qualifications: Experience: 5-7 years of CNC machining and programming experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role. Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience in CNC lathe and mill operations, including programming, setup, and troubleshooting. Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Mastercam, BobCAD/CAM, and familiarity with SolidWorks. MRP Systems: Experience with JobBOSS or similar manufacturing resource planning software. Sheet Metal Fabrication: Understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes is a plus. Skills: Proven leadership and team-building abilities to manage a diverse workforce effectively. Expertise in CNC programming, machine setup, and precision machining techniques. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for technical and operational challenges. Ability to interpret technical specifications and blueprints accurately. Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
