Agile Coach, Manager

Agile Coach, Manager reports to Director, Agile PMO. This position will coach, support, and mature the organization's Agile mindset. This role is a blend of project management, people manager, and mentoring. The Agile Coach will be working with multiple business and technology teams across our employees and our customers to deliver customer value through the implementation of Agile principles, processes, and methods. This is an individual contributor role who will work closely with the Agile leadership.
This is a hybrid role so there is an expectation that the employee will be present in the office (Adelphi, MD) a minimum of twice a week or in alignment with management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coach product teams in applying Agile values, principles, practices, tools and techniques both on an ad hoc basis and through quarterly checkups
- Provide actionable feedback to teams for improving and developing their skills in Agile practices and team dynamics
- Drive teams to higher levels of proficiency and maturity by adopting Agile methods (Scrum and Kanban)
- Mentor Agile Team Facilitators/Scrum Masters and Product Owners
- Guide teams with hands-on assistance in facilitating all key Agile events including daily standups, iteration and release planning sessions, backlog refinement as well as product demos and team retrospectives
- Facilitate various workshops and Agile team events including product discovery, story writing, and backlog management, release planning and road mapping
- Support the execution of the client's Agile Transformation
- Build and grow internal, enterprise-wide agility and sustainable high-performing teams
- As an agile coach you will facilitate learning through workshops, meetings, team-building activities and various agile events
- Apply lean/Agile values and principles with product delivery teams
- 5+ yrs. of experience in an Agile practitioner/coach role using the Scrum and Kanban frameworks
- 5+ yrs. of experience in IT project/program management
- Previous experience working on/with Agile teams and running PI Planning
- Highly developed communication skills to collaborate, build relationships, influence, negotiate and persuade others at all levels both inside and outside of IT
- Experience Preferred:
- Previous software development experience
- Experience in the higher education space
- SAFE experience, including value streams
- Prior training experience
- Proven ability to lead workshops and training sessions
- Strong facilitation, collaboration, coaching, and mentoring skills
- Proficient in using Azure DevOps for backlog management, progress tracking, and reporting
- Must have a passion for helping others and making a difference
- Bachelor's degree in IT or a related discipline
- Agile-relevant certifications (ie: PMI-ACP, CSM, SPC, SAFE 6.0)
