Position Summary
Lead, oversee and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for the construction, maintenance, repair and remodeling of facilities/structures and parks; perform the most difficult carpentry and cement-finishing tasks and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours vocational training in carpentry, plumbing, or welding; and
Three (3) years of construction experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

- Lead, organize and review the work of staff in the area of work assigned
- Independently perform the most difficult rough and finish carpentry, cement-finishing, welding and plumbing tasks
- Interpret, explain and enforce department policies and procedures
- Operate a variety of construction equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Perform material and cost estimating for each construction job
- Read, interpret and follow blueprints and sketches
- Accurately estimate construction materials and labor required for each project assigned
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
