PassionHR Consulting is recruiting a Fabrication Cost Estimator Specialist for a leading precision metal fabrication company in Hartselle, AL. This role involves creating accurate cost estimates for fabrication projects, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, and leveraging tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Key Responsibilities

Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements.

Prepare detailed cost estimates, material takeoffs (MTOs), and pricing proposals for metal fabrication projects.

Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, production, sales) to respond to RFQs (Request for Quotes) and create competitive bids.

Research material costs, labor rates, and market conditions to ensure precise and competitive estimates.

Use advanced tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Tekla, and ProEst to streamline the estimating process.

Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and templates to improve efficiency.

Identify potential cost-saving opportunities while ensuring estimates comply with project specifications.

Required Qualifications

At least three years of experience in cost estimation for metal fabrication, manufacturing, or construction

Post-secondary education or tradesperson with industry experience

Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint interpretation

Experience using estimation tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Tekla

Knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including welding, machining, and assembly techniques

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Must have keen attention to details

Must work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Must meet deadlines promptly

Must be familiar with metal fabrication, sheet metal processing, welding processes, as well as blueprint reading

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Working knowledge of E2 (JobBoss2) or other manufacturing ERP software

Must reside within a commutable distance from Hartselle or be willing to relocate BEFORE your start date.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience in cost estimation, ideally with leadership experience.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction Management, or a related field.

Industry certifications, such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE).

Experience in ISO9001 and AS9100 environments.

Familiarity with aerospace and defense ground support equipment or flight hardware projects is a significant advantage.

Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD is highly valued.
