Estimating Engineer

Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation and Quoting: Review customer specifications, technical drawings, and other documentation to create accurate cost estimates for new and repeat manufacturing projects. Utilize CAD software (such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD) to manipulate 3D models and 2D drawings to generate manufacturing drawings that can be unfolded to calculate material utilization and manufacturing process times. Utilize FVMT methods and standards for cost models for various manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, welding, painting, and assembly. Analyze material requirements, labor hours, tooling costs, overhead, and other relevant factors to prepare comprehensive and competitive quotes. Maintain accurate records of all estimates, bids, and project cost data. Support the preparation to formal bids and proposals, providing detailed cost breakdowns and technical justification. Help ensure that estimates are completed on time and meet customer expectations, including managing deadlines and prioritizing tasks. Collaboration with Sales, Engineering, and Operations Teams: Work closely with sales, engineering, and operations teams to gather customer requirements, clarify design specifications, and identify opportunities for cost savings or process improvements. Provide technical input and advice to the sales team during the proposal stage to ensure accurate and achievable cost estimates. Qualifications: Education-Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field Expertise-2+ Years of experience in manufacturing engineering, cost estimation, or production planning. Experience in sheet metal, precision machining, or metal fabrication is a plus Skills and Knowledge-Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, etc) and manufacturing software (ERP systems such as Syteline or similar. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly. Ability to analyze complex data and make decisions that impact cost, quality, and delivery. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functioning teams. Additional Skills (preferred): Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
