Job Summary: The Systems Engineer V is part of our Operations team that provides data center (private/cloud) and systems support for our Software as a Service (SaaS) Microsoft Windows, VMware, and hybrid Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure. The employee should possess strong troubleshooting and analytical skills; disaster recovery and business continuity planning, implementation and execution experience.

The position will support the company's mission by working with other teams to design, engineer, build, implement/install and support joint solutions for remote clients. Advanced knowledge of Cisco's Unified Computing System? (UCS) and Microsoft's Hyper-V virtual environments is essential to be successful in this position. The employee should also possess a good knowledge of RDC (Remote Desktop Connection / MSTSC), and Wireshark.

The employee should be eager to work, learn and grow as part of a fast growing and highly technical team of engineers. In addition to the above, the employee will also be accountable for providing support for Microsoft SQL 2019, MS Server 2019-2022, and SharePoint 2016.

Viable candidates must be willing to work onsite at GSI's headquarters in Palm Harbor, Florida daily.

Key Responsibilities:

Windows and Linux Systems Administration (physical and virtual and in multi-datacenter and multi-cloud):
  • Manage and maintain both Linux and Windows servers, ensuring high performance and availability.
  • Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes across both operating systems.
  • Document and diagram infrastructure designs, processes, server configurations, and data flows.
  • Administer Windows Server 2019 and newer, including Windows Failover Clustering.
  • Oversee multiple IIS web farms in geographically dispersed data centers and cloud environments.
  • Administration and management of Windows File/Print servers
  • Administration and management of FTP/SFTP (Serv-U)
  • Develop and utilize PowerShell scripts to automate tasks (experience preferred).
  • Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Cisco UCS and Dell PowerEdge hardware installation, administration, and troubleshooting in geographically dispersed datacenters.
Active Directory Administration:
  • Administration and management of Windows Active directory
  • Active Directory DNS
  • Active directory Group Policies
  • Active Directory Users
  • Active Directory Security Groups
  • Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance standards.
VMware Administration:
  • Manage and maintain all VMware vCenters in geographically dispersed datacenters.
  • Manage and maintain all VMware vSphere ESXi hosts in geographically dispersed datacenters.
  • Disaster Recovery testing and implementation
  • Cisco UCS and Dell PowerEdge hardware installation, administration, and troubleshooting in geographically dispersed datacenters.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance standards.
Cloud Infrastructure Administration:
  • Serve as a cloud engineer for management and administration of cloud hosted services and servers in AWS/Azure/Google Cloud platforms ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of resources across multiple platforms.
  • Implement and maintain cloud security best practices and compliance standards.
Storage Array management:
  • Manage and maintain Pure and Nimble storage arrays.
  • Configuring zones in SAN switches
Project Management and Implementation:
  • Lead and coordinate IT projects from planning to deployment, ensuring they align with organizational goals.
  • Manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders.
Requirements

Work Experience / Knowledge:
  • Administration and management in geographically dispersed multi-datacenter and multi-cloud environments (AWS/Azure/Google)
  • Proven experience in managing Windows Active Directory and Windows Failover Clustering.
  • Experience with managing IIS Web farms in complex, multi-datacenter and cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server 2019+ and Always On configurations (a plus).
  • Proficiency in administering F5 Load Balancers.
  • Skilled in documentation and diagramming of IT systems.
  • Experience with backup solutions such as CommVault, Rubrik, or similar.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Visio.
  • Experienced in engineering, deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting cloud solutions.
  • Engineering, deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting cloud solutions (AWS/Azure/Google)
Qualifications / Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, MIS, CS, or a related field, or equivalent experience of 8 years+.

  • Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud preferred.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and perform effectively under pressure.

  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong initiative and teamwork skills
  • Strong critical thinking, observation, and reasoning skills
Special Requirements:
  • Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for system outages
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Perform daily health checks to ensure storage is operational and healthy
  • Lead and coordinate troubleshooting as required; resolve and close tickets in accordance with SLAs
  • Ensure system resources are patched with the latest software versions, security updates, and hotfixes
  • Cross-train and mentor other engineers to improve coverage and team performance
  • On-call rotation duty
  • Conduct after-hour maintenance and troubleshooting as required (nights and weekends)
  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Perform other duties as assigned
