Summary

Spire is seekinga Human Resources Business Partner to support part of Spire's Field Operations (Construction & Maintenance, Service, etc.). This position will be based out of Spire's Kansas City location (by the stadiums) and is responsible for consulting with regional leaders and providingguidance and support to the business across all areas of Human Resources.

Qualified candidates must bring the following experience and skills to be considered:

  • a Bachelor's degree AND 5+ years' experience in an HR Business Partner role, or 7+ as an HR Generalist
  • demonstrated experience critically thinking through difficult situations
  • be an effective communicator, adept at managing and prioritizing follow-up
  • able to work autonomously (manager is in St. Louis) and within the scope of HRBP role

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Function as an internal consultant to management and others by helping them identify and resolve issues, encouraging excellent management practices, anticipating internal organization issues, proposing solutions, and understanding/representing the employeeperspective

  • Drive an inclusive culture throughout the organization using data, metrics, and industry bestpractice

  • Provide HR guidance and support to the business across a breadth of areas,including talent management, employee development, performance management, change management,and employeerelations

  • Support the EEO and Affirmative Action initiatives, assuring that training, communications, and policies are in place and functioning thoseaddress areas of under-utilization andensure compliance with corporateobjectives

  • Facilitate talent reviews and succession planning discussions and work with the business to ensure plans are actively put intopractice


  • Assist with labor relations initiatives, assuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and NLRB legislation, including contract preparation, negotiations, andinterpretation

  • Investigate claims of discrimination and harassment and serve as a resource for employees with related questions andconcerns

  • Keep abreast of current HR legislation and trends and assist in the updating of programs asrequired

  • All other duties asassigned

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • None

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or similar discipline(s)

Required knowledge, skill and abilities
  • MINIMUM five (5) years of HR Business Partnerexperience, or 7+ as an HR Generalist, required

  • Experience supporting a unionized workforce preferred

  • Experience supported a geographically-dispersed workforce

  • SPHR/PHR Certification preferred


Physical demands, environment and schedule
  • Hybrid Work Arrangement: 3 days per week in-office, 2 days per week remote
  • Typical Work Environment - Work is normally performed in a shared office environment
  • Ability to travel up to 10-20%, to locations such as Lee's Summit, Joplin, Monett, and St. Louis
