The
Lead Cloud Engineer
will be responsible for maintaining the overall health of RapidScale managed cloud services within the Architecture team. The position will be a key factor in supporting development, growth, and stability of RapidScale's domestic and international data centers, specializing in advanced troubleshooting, documentation, and management of core Storage, Compute, and Virtualization platforms.
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Maintain and help develop multiple cloud environments within RapidScale's infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Virtual Network, Hypervisor, Backups, DR, and Monitoring). Facilitate resolution of trouble tickets escalated to the Architecture team when necessary. Execute initiatives to reduce failures, defects, and improve overall performance. Document procedures and processes for use by other cloud operators. Provide support for other Engineers and Architects on the team. Work closely with Architects, Security, and Compliance to patch, address and mitigate vulnerabilities and compliance requirements. Implement Architecture designs and updates. Ensure proper monitoring and alerting configuration of infrastructure components.
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field.
The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; or 10 years' experience in a related field.
A proven level of expertise & competence with Infrastructure implementation, operations, monitoring & design. Ability to demonstrate a high level of competency with managing technical projects in a high-paced, dynamic environment. Willingness to work nights or weekends as needed and on a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule. Travel up to 15%. Apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving problems that are complex in scope, requiring in-depth evaluation as well as the ability to identify problems in advance and propose solutions.
Preferred:
VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter), other. Linux OS Management (Ubuntu/Red Hat). Storage Protocols (FC, iSCSI, NFS). Storage Systems (vSAN, NetApp, Pure Storage). Cisco UCS. Scripting & Automation (PowerShell/PowerCLI, Ansible, REST). Basic to Intermediate networking (VLAN, LACP, etc.). Experience with Monitoring Systems and alerting configuration. Backup and DR products like VEEAM and Zerto.
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $117,300.00 - $195,500.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
