Baltimore, MD Job Overview: A reputable law firm is seeking a skilled Mid-Level Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join its dynamic Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group. This position is based in Baltimore, MD, and offers an opportunity to work with a team of professionals who handle complex patent matters. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in patent prosecution, especially in the fields of mechanical or electrical engineering, and will be eager to contribute to both client success and team growth. Duties: Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications, primarily in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering. Collaborate with clients to assess intellectual property strategies and patent portfolios. Guide patentability, infringement, and validity opinions. Manage patent prosecution matters from initial filing to issuance, including responding to office actions. Conduct patent searches and analyze relevant prior art. Assist in preparing and filing appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Offer support in litigation matters related to patents, working closely with the litigation team. Requirements: 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution. Must be registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). A technical background, particularly in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. Strong written and oral communication skills. Exceptional organizational and analytical capabilities. Maryland state bar membership is required. Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications: USPTO registration is required. Maryland State Bar membership is required. Skills: Strong legal research and writing abilities. Proficiency in patent prosecution processes and regulations. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
