Prepare and prosecute patent applications related to software, artificial intelligence, IOT, networking, quantum technologies, and other emerging fields. Conduct patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses for clients. Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and product designers to draft patent applications that accurately capture technological innovations. Work closely with clients to provide legal advice on intellectual property strategy and protection. Manage patent portfolios, ensuring proper maintenance and updating of patent records. Stay up-to-date on changes in patent law, especially those affecting software and AI technologies. Attend meetings and communicate regularly with clients to discuss their product design and patent needs. Conduct due diligence for mergers and acquisitions or licensing agreements related to patents and intellectual property. Participate in patent litigation support as needed, including drafting motions, briefs, and other legal documents. Requirements:
2+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience. Expertise in drafting and prosecuting patents in one or more of the following areas:
Software-related technologies Artificial intelligence Internet of Things (IoT) and networking technologies Quantum technologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team of legal professionals. Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Bachelor or advanced degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Certifications:
Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Bar is required. Admission to the state Bar (preferably Colorado or eligibility for admission). Skills and Competencies:
