The Application Specialist is responsible for configuring, testing, and maintaining interfaces within multiple environments. The Application Specialist is also responsible for the successful implementation, ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancement of assigned electronic health records and applications supported by the organization. This role provides technical and business expertise to ensure the successful implementation of enterprise systems which support business strategies and the mission and vision of the organization. The Application Specialist is accountable to their assigned manager for proper interpretation and fulfillment of the functions, responsibilities, authority, and relationships of this position. Key responsibilities include managing interface/integration projects, upgrades, and processes. This involves successful project implementation, testing, troubleshooting, effective communication to end users, and training team members to properly support interface environments. The Application Specialist will be entrusted with creating, modifying, and running SQL queries via SSMS. Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years of related experience, or Associates Degree plus 4 years of related experience, or High School diploma plus 6 years of related experience. Degree must be in Informatics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Engineering, Medical Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Registration/Certification/Licensure: Certification or credentialing in a relevant healthcare clinical field (MT, RT, RRT, etc.) is preferred. An unexpired, unsuspended driver’s license is required if driving is part of routine job duties. Experience: Required experience depends on education level obtained. Two years of experience implementing and supporting electronic health record systems is required with a BS degree, four years with an AA degree, and 6 years with a HS diploma. Significant exposure and knowledge of healthcare operational, clinical, and financial procedures is desired, as well as an awareness of how, when, and to what extent healthcare entities require communication and share common data. Experience with Corepoint or other interface engine experience is preferred. Other Requirements: Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements—word processing, presentation graphics, and spreadsheet applications. Ability to effectively apply skills in workflow analysis and process reengineering. Previous experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with customers and promoting a positive service atmosphere in a team-oriented environment. Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment producing quality work. Ability to exhibit a positive, outgoing presentation to customers. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Effective problem-solving skills and ability to make appropriate decisions when performing assigned duties. Ability to occasionally work other shifts, holidays, and weekends to fulfill responsibilities and maintain support for the organization’s practice systems. There is also a requirement to serve on a rotating on-call schedule to ensure systems support during off hours and holidays. May require the ability to drive as part of routine job duties.
