Blue Origin, Denver, Colorado, United States, 80285

Application close date: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! As part of a diverse and hardworking team of systems engineers and designers, you will contribute to and support technical spacecraft design documentation for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of developing the next generation of crewed lunar lander architectures. In this role, you will be accountable for providing vehicle and inter-element interfaces and designs on various configurations. You will be working closely with associated disciplines to document the design of an end-item product. Your engagement will span all program phases, from conceptual design, through development, production, deployment, and post-flight. You will be required to create CAD models, system layouts, and interface controls to manage the design development of the configuration. Working with each of the design teams, you will implement and enforce top-down design principles, maintain the CAD product structure, and export CAD models for their analysis and system level integration. Collaboration is expected with various engineering teams to utilize Creo Parametric for configuration design and Windchill for product lifecycle management documentation. You will have the opportunity to work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Permanence system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required! Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Create, modify, and maintain CAD models of spacecraft layouts, including but not limited to structures and mechanisms, avionics and power, fluids and propulsion, thermal, crew and life support systems in Creo Parametric using top-down design principles. Develop interface control models in model-based definitions and support interface control drawings. Export and troubleshoot CAD model representations for system level analysis and integration. Assess configuration designs through trade studies, concept development, interface management, procurement, assembly, integration, testing, and operations support. Coordinate with configurators, architects, and various discipline leads to develop and maintain interface control and ensure seamless integration for the production and operation phases. Application of relevant company, industry part design and drafting techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data representing the engineering designs as they evolve. Minimum Qualifications: Extensive experience working in ProEngineer/Creo Parametric with Windchill familiarity (similar CAD modeling and PLM software will be considered). Experience managing large vehicle-level CAD model assemblies and reviewing associated engineering drawing releases. Experience creating and releasing fabrication and installation engineering drawings. Successful candidates in this role typically have 8+ years of direct experience in spacecraft, launch vehicle, aircraft, or automotive hardware. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Design experience in crewed specific spacecrafts and cryogenic propellant fueled launch vehicles. Familiarity and detailed knowledge in space-rated and human-rated components, hardware, fluid routing, assemblies, installations, environmental impacts, and design for manufacturability. Modeling experience using AutoCAD or PTC ProPiping, ProCabling, or Routed Systems Designer. Extensive experience with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41 drafting standards. Demonstrate expert practices in common manufacturing material callouts, GD&T, tolerance/stack-up analysis, order of operation requirements, and maintain cleanliness requirements on drawings.
