Server DRAM Engineer

(individual contributor) to develop high-performance memory solutions tailored for advanced server applications. In this role, you will collaborate with platform and cross-functional teams—including performance, software, firmware, packaging, SIPI, product management, and component suppliers—to design and implement cutting-edge, high-speed, low-power memory technologies optimized for data center servers. Your contributions will be critical in ensuring these solutions transition successfully to production, supporting the performance and reliability demands of next-generation server products. Key Responsibilities: Analyze JEDEC and memory supplier roadmaps to identify opportunities aligned with the unique demands of high-end server environments. Collaborate with industry partners on emerging technologies related to memory, storage, networking, and energy efficiency. Select and validate memory-related components, modules, connectors, and materials to meet server-grade performance, reliability, and scalability standards. Define and manage packaging and PCB layout constraints tailored for data center server workloads. Contribute to the definition and design of PHY, Memory Controller, and ECC requirements optimized for server-class architectures. Debug and optimize DRAM training algorithms to enhance speed, stability, and reliability in high-performance server systems. Prepare and deliver clear, comprehensive technical documentation and presentations tailored to diverse stakeholders, including engineering teams, senior management, customers, and suppliers. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in high-speed hardware design for data center environments. Expertise in signal integrity, power integrity, and high-speed analog/digital designs. Experience with DDR technologies and protocols, e.g., DDR5 and I2C. Experience with RDIMMs in server environments, including design, bring-up, qualification, and production. Proficiency with lab and debugging tools, including logic analyzers, high-speed oscilloscopes, differential probes, and VNAs. Strong technical documentation skills and excellent written and verbal communication. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in DRAM design for data center applications. In-depth knowledge of processor memory architectures and data center system design. Hands-on experience in the design, bring-up, qualification, and production of servers utilizing modern DDR memory, including advanced memories such as MRDIMM and MCRDIMM. Familiarity with high-speed communication standards such as PCIe and SerDes, as well as system-level protocols like SPI. Proficiency in creating constraints within schematic and layout tools such as OrCAD and Allegro. Advanced expertise in PHY training algorithms and error-correcting codes (ECC). Knowledge of LPDDR technologies and their potential applications in servers. Participation in JEDEC workgroups. Experience with Linux, Python, and C++ for development and testing purposes.
