We are a unique facility, combining a fully functioning winery with intimate concerts, food & wine classes, private events in a variety of configurations, and fine dining. Position Summary The Beverage Manager oversees and manages the local property’s beverage programs and staff, interacts with guests to ensure hospitable service, and focuses on promoting and maximizing wine sales. This position is designed to strengthen City Winery’s positioning as a food-, beverage- and service-centric destination with a focus on hospitality and education, and to highlight our offerings through promotion and sales of City Winery produced wines, alongside beverages from producers around the world. Minimum Qualifications Must have a minimum of 3+ years of beverage management/wine sales experience or relevant experience Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience and exceptional leadership skills Strong knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits, their origin, taste, ingredients, and service Current knowledge of local beverage market, its offerings, limits, and beverage-related laws High integrity, work ethic, and unparalleled passion for hospitality, food, wine, and music Ability to successfully multi-task, delegate, and manage several projects at once in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment Ability to respectfully mentor, train, develop, and hold teams accountable to expectations Understanding of costing and inventory required Professional and effective communication skills Superior organization skills and attention to detail Flexible and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team Must be familiar with forklift: press loading, barrel stacking Must have proficient computer and technological skills including Microsoft Word and Excel; winemaking database experience preferred Ability to perform physical requirements of position including standing for extended periods of time, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, able to lift, carry, push, pull weight of at least 50 lbs. Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed Overview of Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day activities of beverage department Responsible for direct management and oversight of all wine and beverage staff, alongside General Manager Ensure high level of guest service is consistently provided and listen/respond to guest and employee concerns and questions Ensure that all beverage products served meet the established specifications and standards Train and enforce practical application of all Health Code requirements and ensure all health and regulatory compliance is followed Responsible for the knowledge of all alcohol laws and ordinances and the implementation of these requirements Ensure the proper level of service is provided based on forecasted needs Complete required daily financial tools and reports, ensuring that all revenues are captured and reported accurately Execute and audit beverage inventory and cost control systems and processes Analyze and evaluate beverage department profits and loss statements and make recommendations as to alternative courses of action Participate in matters pertaining to the purchase of products and ensure all products necessary for beverage operations are ordered and delivered in a timely fashion Support in planning and execution of beverage-related events, as needed Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable work environment for employees and guests Ensure that all bars and beverage equipment is operated safely and with reasonable care, reporting mechanical problems to the proper department for repair Lead beverage department personnel in the proper performance of their duties; leading by positive example at all times Conduct, attend, and satisfactorily complete all training as needed Perform all other duties as per business need About Us Wine, food, and live entertainment collide at City Winery to create a dynamic and incredibly unique workplace.
