The development department builds key strategic relationships with our philanthropic community to raise critical funds for Segerstrom Center for the Arts, a non-profit organization. We work closely with individuals, corporations, and foundations to make the renowned, life-changing work we do possible, raising more than $14 million annually. Segerstrom Center for the Arts was built through philanthropy, and it is at the core of our vision for becoming the model of the successful performing arts center of the future.
JOB SUMMARY:
Segerstrom Center for the Arts seeks a Senior Manager, Institutional Giving who will play a key frontline fundraising role in growing programmatic and operating support from corporate and foundation funders. The Senior Manager will carry a portfolio of 20+ institutional donors and prospects and will be responsible for funder cultivation; proposal and report writing, corporate activations; event execution; sponsorship fulfillment; and stewardship. As the primary writer and editor for the Development department, the Senior Manager will also work with colleagues across the department to copyedit and draft high level communications for various donor purposes. The Senior Manager will play a key role in fundraising for the Development department, which has a set financial goal of $16 million this fiscal year, plus an upcoming capital campaign. This role is full-time and will report directly to the Director, Institutional Giving.
JOB DUTIES:
Fully manage the calendar and cycle of foundation grants and corporate giving.
Develop well-written, compelling, and tailored proposals and reports for institutional funders.
Work with colleagues in Finance to develop accurate program and operating budgets.
Collaborate with Education, Community Education, and Artistic Programming to best understand and articulate funding and programmatic needs.
Oversee corporate fulfillment and work with Special Events to execute successful corporate events and partner with colleagues in Marketing on activations.
As the primary writer and copyeditor for the Department, provide writing and editing support for emails, reports, and proposals.
Craft cases of support and develop a language bank for programs and artistic programming for proposals and brochures.
Utilize the Prospect Analyst to research and identify prospective foundation funders.
Maintain awareness of corporate and foundation funding trends, assessment tools, and industry changes and share with colleagues.
Support the Director of Institutional Giving with the management of meetings, events, and activities related to the Arts & Business Leadership Council.
Assist the Director of Institutional Giving with other administrative support as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Four (4) plus years in nonprofit development, preferably at an arts organization.
Demonstrated frontline fundraising experience, with a knowledge of foundations and corporate giving.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Acrobat Pro and InDesign).

Ability to positively interface with foundation and corporate partners and work with colleagues across all levels and departments at the Center.
Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
Team player who also has the capability to work independently and as a self-starter.
Genuine interest in—and knowledge of—the arts and understanding of their importance in our society.
Experience with fundraising databases is preferred, Tessitura experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly sit or stand at a workstation in an office or cubicle setting.
Continually work with a computer and use the telephone.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty pounds.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment will vary and may be loud at times depending on scheduled events.
COMPENSATION:
Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000; Full Time, Exempt.
403B with match after probationary period.
