This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Mechanical Engineer for our Boston, MA office location to work with our Northeast Property & Buildings Region.
Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers to develop comprehensive solutions that meet project goals and enhance building performance. Works closely with the Project Managers (PM) or Senior Engineers for technical review and guidance.
Your Impact
Create essential deliverables, including calculations, drawings, and specifications, adhering to the firm's quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) process. Develop comprehensive mechanical system designs, calculating heating and cooling loads with precision.
Choose and position mechanical equipment such as pumps, chillers, fans, and boilers, ensuring optimal system performance.
Develop detailed project specifications to guide successful implementation.
Evaluate field conditions as necessary to facilitate project development and completion.
Apply advanced energy modeling techniques to optimize HVAC systems for energy efficiency and sustainability.
Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, ensuring safety and compliance.
Attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers to discuss current and future projects. Collaborate with stakeholders to meet project goals and client objectives.
Support junior team members through training and mentorship, enhancing the firm's human resource efforts.
Stay updated through educational opportunities, professional publications, and technical organizations. Obtain certifications in your area of expertise and actively participate in the firm's Technical Committee as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the firm's overall success.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior mechanical design experience.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC load calculations.
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.
Keen attention to detail to ensure accurate and compliant design documentation.
Excellent time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and effectively collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative team player, adept at communicating complex concepts.
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and LEED accreditation a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) certification is preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
