Concrete Superintendent
Summary Description:
A concrete project superintendent is responsible for planning and coordinating concrete construction, supervising the concrete portions of the project, ensuring quality work, maintaining schedules, and adhering to budgets. The Superintendent oversees all concrete operations on-site to ensure compliance with designs, timely project completion, and adherence to safety and company standards. They work closely with General Contractors and coordinate weekly with Operations Managers and Project Management for manpower and resource scheduling, as well as effective project communication and execution.
Specific Responsibilities:
Coordinate with Operations Managers for all concrete schedules/operations. Communicate daily with Project Management staff to ensure successful project execution. Supervise and oversee all concrete construction processes on-site. Ensure adherence to budget regarding manpower production and material expenditures. Organize and schedule field labor, ensuring performance meets requirements. Coordinate with other subcontractors to ensure proper planning and harmony. Preserve quality in the concrete construction process while maintaining budget. Track and report project progress daily and weekly. Accurately capture and report time for field manpower overseen. Continuously monitor productivity and identify potential delays, providing solutions to overcome challenges.
Job Specific Competencies/Behaviors:
Extensive knowledge and experience in concrete construction, including footings, walls, flatwork, tilt-up, and paving. General knowledge of scheduling concrete work activities in relation to other trades. Safety conscious with a commitment to implementing the CSI safety culture. Proficient in Spanish to communicate with field labor as needed. Strong listening skills, relationship-building abilities, flexibility, negotiation skills, and receptiveness to feedback.
Education/Experience/Attributes:
10+ years of experience in commercial/industrial concrete construction on projects over $2 million, preferably with tilt-up construction experience. Previous experience as a Concrete Superintendent is required. Ability to effectively supervise construction employees and manage work within budget and schedule. Able to maintain positive relationships with management, owners, trades, and subcontractors. Able to balance and prioritize multiple deadlines. Excellent communication skills. Strong understanding of the company's Safety First philosophy. Above-average knowledge of technology and related resources. Strong work ethic with a willingness to travel and/or relocate. Regularly works on-site, exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, outside weather conditions, and electrical risks. Noise level is usually moderate to very loud. Motivated, hardworking team player.
