is seeking a Board-Certified

Pediatric Gastroenterologist

to be the next Director of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. In addition to supporting the patient care, research, and education missions of SIUH, the Director will help lead the strategic planning and growth of the program. The ideal applicant for this position would have at least 5 years of experience with preference being given to those with previous leadership experience. The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at SIUH

includes a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, nurses, dieticians and social workers. A comprehensive pediatric aerodigestive center featuring pediatric gastroenterology, pulmonology, and otolaryngology will open in 2025. The mission of the Division is to provide clinically excellent care to our community through a multi-specialty, cohesive team approach. The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology benefits from the departmental presence of all pediatric medical subspecialties and a comprehensive Pediatric Surgery program. 15 of our pediatric specialists practice in a newly renovated, child friendly, collaborative outpatient center which opened in 2024. Our department includes physicians with extensive experience in a broad range of specialties, including pediatric pulmonology, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, urology, rheumatology, developmental/behavioral, genetics and hematology/oncology. Our department partners with pediatric services including pediatric surgery, radiology, otolaryngology, anesthesiology, orthopedics, and ophthalmology. Additionally, we work hand in hand with our obstetricians to care for the over 3,800 newborn deliveries at SIUH each year. The Department of Pediatrics has an ACGME-accredited and independent pediatric residency consisting of 24 residents and strongly encourages participation in resident education and mentorship. Our departmental Pediatric Research & Scholarship Committee formalizes an approach for all residents to engage in clinical research and/or quality improvement projects under Dept of Pediatrics faculty mentorship. The newly constructed, state-of-the-art Grupposo Women & Infant’s Center will open in 2025, reflecting a 50% increase in capacity. Our newborn services have experienced rapid growth in 2024 with a 33% increase in deliveries vs 2023. Similarly, construction has begun on the state-of-the-art Maffeo Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We offer streamlined communication between our hospital and community settings which ensures our entire team has full understanding of the patients’ needs at all times. Our settings include: Children's emergency center, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, inpatient unit, nursery, and various ambulatory sites.
