Specifically, the Architect performs design computations, compiles data, and completes architectural assignments. CORE JOB SUMMARY Prepares project estimates and architectural plans as assigned. Inspects structures in the field. Writes specifications, coordinates with material manufacturers, and inspects raw materials. Selects, evaluates, and implements architectural procedures and techniques in the completion of projects. Formulates architectural reports, and summaries. Reviews completed architectural plans and estimates. Approves final specifications and ordered materials. Provides overall guidance on project design objectives and concepts. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Certification and Licensing:

Certification in relevant specialty or field Experience:

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Department Specific Functions (specific to Coral Gables campus) Reviews and evaluates programmatic space planning needs, requests, and related reports. Evaluates initial design and construction project requests. Coordinates with Space Planning on space related projects. Coordinates with Campus Planning on related campus planning projects. Directs and coordinates Lessons Learned Reports. Reviews potential Higher Education A/E firms and makes recommendations accordingly. Develops and Reviews AE RFQ/RFP for new project requests. Researches and reviews potential architectural products and makes recommendations accordingly. Consults with users/stakeholders to determine project requirements. Reviews and provides design recommendations in alignment with user group and the University needs. Reviews design documents from pre-design to construction documents and provides design recommendations and guidance in alignment with user group needs and confirms compliance with the University Standards. Assists in providing guidance for resolution of complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions in support of the University’s needs. Develops and prepares project presentations as may be required. Develops and prepares project scope documents as may be required for budget development. Develops and/or reviews conceptual pre-design studies in assessing programmatic needs and project scope. Supports/assists the University’s Sr. Architect with the following: Assists with the City of Coral Gables Board of Architects (BOA) submittals, reviews and presentations Leading and developing projects from pre-design through design development Project reviews for interior and exterior projects for compliance with University Standards Review of FF&E selections and respective costs related to approved budgets Campus overall/miscellaneous reviews, e.g., donor signage, exterior art placement, campus grounds elements Managing and implementing University Building Standards Managing and coordinating Interior Design Guidelines Managing and coordinating Interior Signage Standards Managing and implementing University Building Paint Palette Assists construction project managers with permitting review processes Assists in developing and endorsing green building policies and construction standards in support of the Office of Sustainability and the University’s sustainability goals Preparation of presentations to Leadership Assists and supports planning policies and guidelines Developing and assessment of project scopes Assessment of proposed projects scope and fees in coordination with design consultants Coordination of proposed/future building projects with Campus Planning Coordination of proposed/future building projects with Space Planning Coordinating and review of the City of Coral Gables BOA project submittals Vendor Meet & Greet protocol Serving as liaison between the University and design consultants Supports in the evaluation of workflow efficiencies, processes standards Job Status:
