United IT Solutions, Houston, TX, United States

Title: Electrical Component Engineer

Location: Houston, TX (On-site)

Client: Quest Global/Schlumberger

Rate: $38/hr. on W2

Exp: 6 - 15 years

Face to Face is required by this week

Must Skills: Digital background experience ( experience in Microprocessors/microcontrollers, FPGA design, Memory interfacing, circuit design, with some experience in Python, Labview.etc)

The Component Engineer possesses in-depth knowledge of electronic components and failures modes and serves as a bridge between project teams, component manufacturers, and supply chain to ensure a design meets the project design goals, is manufacturable, and is reliable. The Component Engineer is also responsible for qualification of electronic components for use in extreme, high-reliability environments.

The primary responsibilities of a Component Engineer include (but are not limited to):
  • Identifying new technology components SOC/IC by keeping up to date on industry developments and trends
  • Identifying technologies matching specific hardware requirements and environments (ex. uC synchronization in a downhole environment)
  • Developing and executing component qualification plans for new or unqualified technologies for high reliability applications
  • Interfacing with internal and external failure analysis (FA) labs to investigate root cause failure and providing recommendations to product groups based on the findings
  • Managing communications between technology product teams, supply chain, and supporting technology groups (ex. Design for Test, Design for Manufacturing, process knowledge centers)
  • Advising design engineers in the selection of electronic components based on the electrical performance requirements, proper component usage based on the application environment (i.e electrical de-rating), and overall reliability.
  • Assisting with obsolescence reviews for existing designs
  • Reviewing quality test reports of packaged components and/or dies
  • Providing technical assistance to contracted tests labs and manufacturers
Required Education/Experience/Skills

The ideal candidate will possess the following skill set and knowledge
  • B.S. or M.S. Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar
  • Knowledge of component failure modes, component reliability, and component specifications and standards.
  • Knowledge of Hardware circuit board design basics.
  • Understanding of passive components, microcircuit, hybrid, semiconductor, and discrete device fabrication.
  • Knowledge of components used in high-reliability, automotive, or downhole environments
  • Knowledge of accelerated reliability testing, reliability theory, and component failure analysis
  • Experience with Cadence PSpice and component modeling, LabView, and/or Python is a plus
  • Familiarity with the usage and automation of various test equipment including power supplies, ovens, LCR meters, DMMs, and oscilloscopes
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
Further comment from the Panel:
  • Electronics components testing, qualification and failure mode analysis in these profiles.
  • Here electronic components are semiconductor integrated circuits like micro controllers, Microprocessor, Transistors, MOSFETs, Op Amps, Voltage regulators, ADC, DAC, CPLD, FPGA ,Dc-DC Convertors , Crystal oscillators ,Memory ICs like NAND Flash, NOR Flash etc.
  • The candidate should be familiar with all the electronic components testing, qualification and failure mode analysis.
  • Any electronics test engineer / Sustenance engineer s are good enough for this.
  • Customer won't consider technicians and assembly people
