Position Overview:
As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at UPMC Wellsboro, you will provide transport and basic life support care in the pre-hospital setting. This includes wheelchair or stretcher van transports and ambulance transports for both non-emergency and emergency patients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with restraining combative patients and provide emergency and non-emergency transport (local and long-distance). * Complete patient records and required state charts for all transports and transfers. Ensure legible narrative descriptions of patient conditions. * Operate emergency vehicles, ambulances, wheelchair vans, and passenger vans safely under routine and emergency conditions, following the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Vehicle Code and Department of Health regulations. * Perform automatic external defibrillation on patients when indicated in the pre-hospital setting. * Conduct daily vehicle/equipment checks and report maintenance issues. Complete necessary paperwork for vehicle checks, maintenance, and inventory documentation. * Communicate effectively with the Lycoming County Communications Center, Fire/EMS units using UHF, VHF, and cellular telephones. * Perform patient assessments and provide basic life support care for patients of all age groups, following established standards or policies for traumatic injuries or medical emergencies. * Support functions such as restocking and maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, cleaning equipment, transporting equipment and specimens to diagnostic testing areas, and inter- and intra-departmental transport. * Provide pre-hospital transportation for emergency or non-emergency patients, locally, out of region, or out of state. Independently perform transports of special needs patients using the custodial care coach.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous ambulance and/or hospital experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
* A valid Driver's License is required. * Certification in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required. * Certification of completion of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health-approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) is required within 90 days of hire. * AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers
EMT certification.
CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
EMSVO preferred
