Description
A Project/Design Engineer 2 is directly responsible for the technical preparation and design execution of assigned projects, with these responsibilities crossing multiple engineering disciplines. Typical responsibility and day-to-day tasks shall involve, but not be limited to:
A Project/Design Engineer 2 is directly responsible for the technical preparation and design execution of assigned projects, with these responsibilities crossing multiple engineering disciplines. Typical responsibility and day-to-day tasks shall involve, but not be limited to:
- ASME Section I and Section VIII, Div. 1 Code calculations for a variety of steaming equipment and pressure vessels (firetube & watertube boilers, superheaters, and economizers)
- Structural support & lifting component design, i.e. saddles, structural casing (incl. non-Code pressure retaining components), and lift lugs & apparatus
- Generating foundation load tables, allowable nozzle load analysis, & minor piping stress analysis
- Project specification review and analysis
- Boiler & superheater/economizer valve and instrumentation design and requisitioning, i.e. level control/monitoring components, boiler & superheater/economizer trim accessories, pressure safety valves & silencers, etc.
- Other relevant duties, as assigned
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology
- 8-15 years of experience in a relevant field or industry
- Experience with some or all of the following or equivalent software: Solidworks Simulation or ANSYS FEA, RISA-3D or STAAD Pro, Codeware COMPRESS, CAESAR II
- A Professional Engineer's license is desirable, or E.I.T. license with the desire to pursue a P.E. license
- Excellent interpersonal skills to coordinate & execute multiple engineering activities simultaneously
