Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal to join our investment team and lead efforts in identifying and investing in early- and growth-stage startups within the AI ecosystem. As a Principal, you will play a critical role in sourcing, evaluating, and executing deals, as well as supporting portfolio companies and contributing to the firms overall investment strategy. Key Responsibilities Deal Sourcing and Evaluation: Identify and evaluate high-potential startups in the AI, machine learning, and deep tech sectors. Build and maintain a network of founders, industry experts, and other venture capitalists to source deal flow. Conduct detailed market research, competitive analysis, and technology assessments. Lead due diligence efforts, including financial modeling, market sizing, and risk assessment. Investment Execution: Prepare and present investment memos and recommendations to the firms investment committee. Lead deal negotiations, structuring, and closing processes. Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI market dynamics. Portfolio Support: Serve as a trusted advisor to portfolio companies, providing strategic, operational, and financial guidance. Facilitate connections between portfolio companies and relevant resources, including potential customers, partners, and talent. Monitor portfolio performance and provide regular updates to the investment committee. Thought Leadership and Strategy: Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and public forums to build brand equity and attract deal flow. Contribute to the development and execution of the firms AI investment thesis. Author blogs, whitepapers, or reports on AI trends to establish thought leadership in the sector. Qualifications Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees such as an MBA or Ph.D. in a technical discipline are preferred. Professional Experience: 7 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or a relevant operating role within the AI/technology sector. Strong expertise in the AI, machine learning, or deep tech space, with a robust network of industry contacts. Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing successful investments. Core Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and valuation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders. Strategic thinker with the ability to identify market opportunities and articulate actionable investment theses. Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing strategic and operational support to startups or portfolio companies. Demonstrated thought leadership in the AI sector through published work or speaking engagements.
