Description Civil Utilities Project Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination: Lead and manage all aspects of civil utilities projects, including pre-construction planning, design coordination, procurement, construction execution, and project close-out. Develop and manage detailed project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met. Coordinate with engineers, architects, clients, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive project plans, reviewing designs, specifications, and budgets.

Budget and Cost Management: Prepare detailed cost estimates and ensure that projects are completed within budgetary constraints. Track and manage project costs, identifying potential cost overruns early and implementing corrective actions. Review change orders, process invoices, and approve payments.

Team Leadership and Collaboration: Supervise and lead project teams, including engineers, site managers, subcontractors, and labor forces, to ensure project success. Coordinate resources, personnel, and equipment to optimize project performance. Act as the primary point of contact between the client, stakeholders, and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and project alignment.

Construction Oversight and Quality Control: Monitor the daily operations of the project, ensuring work is being carried out according to the project plan, design specifications, and safety standards. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess the progress of work and ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations. Ensure that all required permits, inspections, and approvals are obtained and adhered to during construction.

Risk Management and Compliance: Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, such as schedule delays, safety concerns, and unforeseen site conditions. Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations governing civil utilities construction. Implement and enforce company safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment for all project personnel.

Client Relations and Reporting: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Provide regular project updates to clients, addressing any concerns or changes promptly. Prepare and deliver project status reports, progress updates, and documentation to stakeholders.

Profile

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in civil utilities construction project management, with a focus on water, sewer, storm drainage, electrical, and gas distribution systems. Proven experience in managing large-scale civil infrastructure projects, from planning through to completion.

Skills and Competencies: Strong technical knowledge of civil utilities construction processes, materials, and equipment. Expertise in project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar tools) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and teams. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications. Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, cost tracking, and change order processing.
