Job Description Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty: Mother Baby
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Shift, 7 AM - 7:30 PM, Every Other Weekend is Required
Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 2 years of postpartum and antepartum experience; Labor & Delivery, Newborn Nursery, and Magnesium Sulfate experience required
License: RN License
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
Must-Have: BSN required; EPIC experience highly preferred
Job Description:
- Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship-Centered Care and using the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice. - Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management. - Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. - Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. - Prioritize all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care, while delegating to others as appropriate. - Educate patients and caregivers, anticipating needs and readiness to learn about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease. - Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team. - Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrate the allocation of material resources effectively. - Role model the tenets of Relationship-Centered Care through key actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Medication Review, and MD/RN Unit Collaboration. - Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice activities. - Document in an accurate and thorough manner in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal standards of care. - Perform charge nurse duties as assigned and coordinate with the nursing management team to ensure sufficient resources for patient care. - Engage in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes. - Contribute to the environment of care to support clinical colleagues, patients, and their families and members of the healthcare team. - Advance clinical competence in nursing practice, incorporating ethical principles into decision-making for patient and family. - Encourage and demonstrate a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, lifelong learning, and innovation for self and others.
