The Senior MEP Estimator will be responsible for accurately preparing cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for large-scale projects. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in estimating MEP systems for commercial construction projects and a strong understanding of industry practices, codes, and regulations.

The client is a well-established and respected mechanical contractor located in Central New Jersey, specializing in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems. They have a reputation for delivering high-quality services to a variety of commercial and industrial projects. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior MEP Estimator to join our team.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and proposals to prepare accurate estimates for MEP systems.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, and equipment for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and analyze project scope to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit formal proposals and presentations to clients.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and provide expertise in discussions about scope, budget, and project requirements.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Provide support during the bid process, including reviewing scope changes, analyzing change orders, and updating estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and industry standards in all cost estimates.
  • Mentor and guide junior estimators in the preparation of estimates.

Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in MEP estimating, with at least 2 years in a senior estimator role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and construction processes.
  • Experience with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage Estimating, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality estimates.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey building codes, regulations, and standards.
