Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Manufacturing Technician to join our team. In this role, you will design, fabricate, modify, and repair molds for plastic injection molding. You will implement efficient manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality products. This role requires advanced skills in tool design, fabrication, project management, and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design molds using SolidWorks to create molds for plastic prototypes and manufacturing
- Address design issues during the build process and modify molds as needed.
- Set up equipment based on mold specifications and material requirements.
- Inspect molds using precision tools to ensure they meet specifications.
- Conduct quality control testing before molds enter production.
- Select materials, and understand the different types of plastic and how they behave during the injection molding process
- Analyze production and equipment needs to optimize performance.
- Develop and test manual and automated manufacturing systems.
- Integrate handling and transport systems effectively.
- Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to resolve issues.
- Train and support staff on equipment, mold-related processes, and documented manufacturing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Upgrade systems and processes with new technologies.
- Address production issues and procurement challenges, such as delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
- Other duties as needed
- 10+ years of direct experience with designing molds and manufacturing equipment
- Hands-on experience in manufacturing setting is required
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and experience in tool design and fabrication.
- Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding and related processes.
- Experience with quality control and inspection techniques.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues effectively.
- Excellent project management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Strong hands-on skills and a thorough understanding of manufacturing equipment and materials.
