Job Summary:
The Social Media Strategist is responsible for the accurate, timely, and effective composing and posting of messages and content to the club's social media platforms. This person assists with the writing, scheduling, and distribution of digital assets for use on social media with a focus on fan engagement and awareness of key business initiatives as a core social media and brand strategy. The Social Media Strategist works collaboratively with the Marketing and Production teams to develop, implement and assess impactful, innovative social media content which aims to safeguard and activate the team's legacy while cultivating engaged audiences across multiple platforms.
Job Duties:
Team & Game Coverage:
- Contributes to social media game coverage for spring training, regular season games, and postseason games on Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and additional platforms as needed. (Home games in person at Busch Stadium; Away games remotely).
- Coverage includes team and game action, as well as a stadium atmosphere and ballpark & fan experience as part of home games.
- Social coverage of team and player news (transactions, roster moves, etc.)
- Collaborates with marketing and production teams to develop creative player content with fan engagement goals.
- Contributes to the creation of content for team accounts, including assisting with planning, capturing, and editing graphics, video, and photo content.
Cardinals Business & Sponsor Content:
- Provides social coverage and content development for the team's business and community initiatives across ticket sales, corporate partnership, community relations and all other marketing message stakeholders.
- Collaborates with marketing and production teams on development of this business and community content.
- Collaborates with Cardinals corporate partnership & MLB Sponsorship teams to develop and deliver contracted content for paid sponsor posts and provides analysis and reporting on performance of sponsored content.
Analytics:
- Reviews social analytics regularly and works collaboratively with marketing & production teams to develop innovative content.
- Works with Strategy & Analytics staff and tools, regularly shares relevant social analytics data and platform updates with relevant colleagues and departments.
- Assists with tagging and achieving social media posts for future analysis and reporting.
Training & Auxiliary Accounts:
- Assists with social media training for staff and internal departments as needed to keep colleagues and auxiliary social feed account managers up to speed on changes and best practices of content development and risk management.
- Assists with approving content to be posted by auxiliary accounts in accordance with best practices and Cardinals legal guidelines.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or marketing related field of study
- 2-3 years' experience writing, creating, and publishing content for social media
- Experience working with social media platforms and scheduling software
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud programs
- Good ethical judgment and decision-making skills in deadline situations
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues internally and stakeholders externally
- Ability to analyze social data
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or marketing related field of study
- 4-5 years of experience managing digital and social content
- Demonstrated experience in video and photo capture and editing for social media
- Multimedia and mobile news and/or digital content production skills
- Experience in content capture using DSLR cameras, video cameras and cell phones for filming and photography
- Experience in blogging and content writing
