Doppelmayr USA Inc is currently seeking a qualified Civil/Structural Engineer to work in our Salt Lake City, Utah office. The Civil/Structural engineer will be responsible for the development of ropeway ground profiles, concrete foundations, and structural steel components for various types of aerial ropeways.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Demonstrates an understanding of ski lift profile design principles and practices using specialized computer rope line calculation software.
• Designs concrete foundations for support of terminal and tower structural steel, generator pads, operator house footings, underground vaults, etc.
• Designs structural steel elements (tower tubes, crossarms, walkways, etc.)
• Provides support as needed to the customer service department with troubleshooting and resources
• Performs project engineering activities for projects with increasing complexity, commensurate with experience.
• Other tasks as circumstances dictate.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrates ability to interpret project documents to understand project scope.
• Works within a multi-disciplined engineering design team.
• Uses engineering skillset to design structures and their components.
• Cognizant of construction practices and incorporates that knowledge into their design to ensure safety, reduce cost and minimize time loss.
• Determines project design loads in accordance with ASCE-7 and Doppelmayr standards.
• Designs structural steel elements in accordance with AISC.
• Designs structural concrete elements in accordance with ACI-318.
• Designs all ropeway components in accordance with ANSI B77.1 and Doppelmayr standards.
• Prepares calculations, specifications and drawings for the purpose of permit, procurement, manufacture, and construction.
• Prepares testing procedures and documentation to ensure works are installed according to project specifications and safety standards.
• Communicates with clients, contractors, and authorities to clarify design or installation requirements for the project.
• Ability to occasionally travel during field commissioning season to support acceptance testing

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Required: BS Civil/Structural Engineering from ABET accredited program with emphasis on structural design

Preferred: Licensed PE in Civil / SE Structural

Emphasis in concrete and steel design, mechanics of materials, computer aided analysis

WORK EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

0-5 years of applicable job experience

Experience with AutoCAD and Solid modeling software such as Siemens NX or Solidworks.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Experience with MathCAD

Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and be able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a sometimes-high pressure work environment.

The successful candidate will join the USA engineering team and report directly to the USA Civil discipline team lead for project assignments.
