Job Description In support of the Army Research Laboratory DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (ARL-DSRC), BAE Systems provides program management and technical support necessary to advance services, capabilities, infrastructure, and technologies. BAE Systems is seeking a Linux Administrator to support a team of administrators with standard Linux system administration duties at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The selected candidate will perform standard Linux System Administration duties as required to maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems consisting of Linux based application and license servers, virtual machines, and cluster based systems. Coordination with network administrators is required. Additional duties: Setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Developing and monitoring policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Participating in the installation, integration, acceptance testing, and ongoing maintenance of our HPC systems and software environment. Assisting with forecast resource limitations and providing recommendations for increasing the efficiency of our resources through proper scheduling and load balancing techniques. Required Education, Experience, & Skills 6 Years Linux Administration 6 Years Virtualization (oVirt, KVM, Proxmox, Nutanix, Openshift as examples. VMware experience is nice but not equivalent.) 3 Years Scripting (Bash, Python. Other scripting languages are nice but not required) 3 Years Storage Administration (CephFS, Gluster, Lustre, ZFS) 3 Years Networking (Layers 2/3/4: Good practical understanding of Networking) 1 Year Configuration Management / Automation (Puppet, Ansible) 1 Year Cluster Administration (Warewulf, xCAT) 2 Years Apache or other web service 2 Years MariaDB or SQL database administration Linux OS certification e.g. CompTIA Linux CE or RHCSA/RHCSE Baseline 8570/8140 Security certification e.g. CompTIA Security CE Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills 10 Years Linux Administration 10 Years Virtualization (oVirt, KVM, Proxmox, Nutanix, Openshift as examples. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
