What you'll do:
As a Commercial Underwriter II, you'll be responsible for underwriting new business loan requests and renewals for working capital lines of credit, owner-occupied commercial real estate loans, term loans, formula-based lines of credit, traditional asset-based lines of credit and other Bank lending products. You will build internal relationships by working with lending officers on credit matters and external relationships with bank clients. Key responsibilities include:
Reviewing loan structures, financial spreads, entity structures, collateral, market data, and reports to understand inherent risks.
Preparing recommendations to Credit Administration in the form of opportunity memos, loan presentations, administrative action memos, and annual reviews.
Analyzing and interpreting business financial statements and tax returns to determine financial trends, identify risks and weaknesses, and mitigating factors.
Computing traditional and UCA cash flow.
Analyzing personal financial statements and tax returns.
Analyzing credit reports.
Determining the proper loan structure for loan requests.
Analyzing collateral such as accounts receivable, inventory, equipment, and real property.
Analyzing industries for relevant trends and determining their likely impact on business applicants.
Applying loan policy correctly and identifying exceptions.
Synthesizing analysis to properly risk rate credits.
Communicating analysis in well-written and thorough loan presentations.
Spreading financial statements and tax returns into appropriate analysis software.
Reviewing and researching proposed collateral, including real property appraisals and UCC-1 filings.
Summarizing credit analysis in loan presentations and other credit documents.
Preparing reports as required by Credit Administration.
Providing loan account risk ratings based on Bank policy and grading procedures.
Developing and maintaining knowledge of the financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors, and competition.
Assuring compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as applicable state and federal banking regulations.
Independently underwriting new credits and/or changes to existing credits and managing appropriate loan covenants.
Collaborating with loan coordinators to obtain necessary information for underwriting credit requests.
Joining relationship managers on client calls and visits to discuss new credit requests.
Communicating with clients independently for credit-related questions.
Involving in the post-approval credit process from closing to ongoing portfolio management.
Reviewing work/spreads completed by credit analysts and providing feedback and guidance.
Maintaining strict confidentiality of all records and data received and produced.
Following policies and procedures, completing administrative tasks correctly and on time, and supporting the Bank's goals and values.
What you need to have:
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) with an emphasis in accounting, economics, or finance, and 5 or more years of related experience in commercial & industrial lending.
Knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in office equipment and basic office software applications such as Word and Excel.
Proficiency with business financial spreading software (e.g., Risk Analyst, Credit LensTM) and personal tax return spreading software (e.g., Paul Buker's Tax AnalysisTM) preferred.
Knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate, and consumer loan processing.
Knowledge of loan documentation and related state and federal lending and compliance regulations.
Current state driver's license and appropriate vehicle insurance if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties.
Compensation:
Salary range for new hires is generally $94,620.00 - $116,883.00 for Las Vegas, NV, determined by specific job location. The role may be eligible for annual bonuses/incentives and restricted stock.
