Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness. The Data Specialist will be primarily responsible for accurate, efficient and complete data entry into the Los Angeles Continuum of Care Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). The Data Coordinator will be a liaison between the HMIS team and the MDCRT/HET members. This position will require the Data Specialist to travel and support Interim Housing/Service Provider sites across the county in effort to support the City and County Encampment Resolution efforts. The functions listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be interpreted as an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Enter data by inputting alphabetic and numeric information using an established procedure into the HMIS which utilizes a web-based interface. Adhering to best data management practices and maintaining a high standard of accuracy and efficiency. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure all participant data is accurate, and all intakes are accurately enrolled in the program database within given deadlines. Identify and escalate any data integrity or data collection challenges to upper management team and assist as appropriate to develop solutions to those challenges. Addressing data inconsistencies by working with administrative staff to locate missing data. Maintain participant confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential. Attend trainings and meeting as deemed necessary by management, both on and off site. Review Request for Services to identify areas of necessary follow-up. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of the LA CoC HMIS. Maintain up to date Clarity (HMIS) Records for services provided to clients directly in the field. Excellent people skills, specifically customer service skills and a capacity for collaboration and interpersonal relationships. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to express technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organizational skills with a strong attention to detail. Intermediate level of computer software programs specifically, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook). Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and timelines. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse community and organizational groups. Other duties and special projects as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 10 pounds. Proven professional experience and educational background. Candidate must have a valid California Drivers’ License and a good driving record for a minimum of 3 years. Work Schedule: The Chief Executive Officer or designee may change the schedule of positions between fully onsite or hybrid, as necessary to accomplish LAHSA's business needs.
