Perform programming and troubleshooting of assigned DCS/Systems as needed.

Propose modifications to DCS/Systems equipment that improve plant performance, safety, or reliability, and reduce costs.

Develop scope and design of DCS/Systems capital projects and oversee engineering commissioning and startup, assuring on-time completion.

Perform regular system health monitoring checks, including server and workstation hardware integrity, fault LED’s, communications integrity, available memory, time sync, cabinet internals (dust removal), monitor display quality, etc.

Work with unit process engineers and DCS Manager to develop and maintain DCS interlock lists, DCS training manuals, sequence flowcharts, and How-To documents.

Assist units in maintenance of DCS/Systems and assist in hardware and software changes as necessary.

Monitor and address DCS alarms, update alarm surveys, propose fixes, and work with unit engineers to execute action items.

Develop and maintain a Master Alarm Data Base for all units in accordance with the ISA 18.2 Alarm Management standard.

Keep up to date in training for system software updates and revisions, and revise training manuals as necessary.

Monitor DCS system alarms (including Windows event logs) and system performance, and work with system TAC to resolve issues quickly to maintain system reliability.

Assist DCS/Systems Manager in configuring and maintaining the data historian, adding/modifying tags and users, adding notifications, troubleshooting issues with Pi, and monitoring system health.

Review event summaries and monitor logs for DCS manual interventions and assist unit process engineers in developing DCS solutions to eliminate the interventions if needed.

Provide DCS training for engineers and board operators.

Review and audit DCS MOC’s for accuracy, assist engineers in simulations, and double check programming changes.

Assist the DCS manager in the development of OT cybersecurity policies, procedures, training, and training logs.

Monitor antivirus scans for unwanted files or potential intrusions and perform audits of USB ports and GPO enforcement.

Apply operating system security patch updates and antivirus software definition file updates in a timely manner.

Perform regular system backups (or monitor automated backups), including trends, event summaries, batch data, and hard drive images, and become proficient in restoring related files as needed.

Develop and maintain KPI’s, dashboards, statistics, and other metrics to keep DCS Manager informed on DCS system health and performance.

Meet with DCS Manager weekly and issue progress reports monthly.

MS Word Intermediate

MS Excel Intermediate

Education Required Bachelors or better in Chemical Engineering or related field.

Experience Required 3 years of DCS programming in a chemical process.
