GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Director, Human Resources is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to Human Resources staff; organizational development initiatives; policies and programs covering employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, recruiting and retention; workforce systems; and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws. This role partners with VP, Human Resources to support all Company functions. This position is responsible for maintaining knowledge of regulatory changes affecting employment-related matters and guiding the Human Resources team to meet goals and objectives. DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Implement human resource strategies by evolving outcomes from strategic intent. Leverage an entrepreneurial approach to create solutions. Participate in strategic workforce planning within the organization, including defining staffing needs. Provide leadership and consulting support to leaders to achieve corporate objectives and business growth. Streamline business processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the department. Oversee the development and deployment of employee engagement and culture building initiatives, employee recruitment and retention, compliance and reporting, organizational structure and development, employee relations, performance management and organization feedback, training and professional development, and Human Resources team development. Provide strategic support to leaders in coaching and maintaining a work environment with high morale, engagement, and productivity. Stay current on federal, state, and legal changes, and monitor labor law updates. Craft, communicate, and educate policy information as laws indicate or as appropriate. Answer questions and requests by governmental agencies, including employee complaints; represent the company at hearings. Demonstrate core values of Integrity, Customer Responsiveness, Innovation, Passionate Contribution & Empowerment, and Continuous Improvement. Project manage HR programs such as employee forums, annual benefit open enrollment, performance and compensation management program, and company events. Review and recommend changes in HR practices, maintain compliance with federal and state employment regulations, and provide a full range of assistance in human resources to support and enhance the Company's culture. Work with VP, Human Resources to construct annual HR business plan; determine department initiatives, goals, and metrics. Conduct periodic audits of human resource activities to ensure compliance. Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. TEAM LEADERSHIP & GUIDANCE: Provide leadership, guidance, and direction in all aspects of direct reports' employment-related activities. Provide effective coaching and feedback to direct reports to foster a positive team atmosphere. Plan, assign, and oversee the goals and work product of direct reports. Support compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information and adhering to applicable laws and regulations. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Proven knowledge and application of HR practices, principles, and applicable employment laws and regulations. Proven ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels within the Company. Proven ability to manage broker and vendor relationships. Excellent project management and planning skills. Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously. Proven ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines. Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HRIS). Minimum Education and Experience Required:
A bachelor's degree and ten (10) years progressive Human Resources experience, with at least three (3) years in human resources management; or any appropriate combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications:
Professional or Senior Professional in Human Resources certification (PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) and multi-site/multi-state experience preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
