Subsistence Supply Management Office (SSMO) Warehouse Specialist
Job Description Summary:
The SSMO Warehouse Specialist is responsible for performing various warehousing duties related to the Army Food Service Program, including stock control, receipt, issue, shipping/packing, and inventory management. The role involves verifying the receipt of materials and equipment, handling discrepancies, ensuring proper storage, and conducting periodic inventories. The position also includes preparing data for reports, processing documents, and operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in both indoor and outdoor environments. The Warehouse Specialist will support supply chain operations, ensure compliance with Army regulations, and maintain a safe, organized warehouse environment. The role may require working in extreme weather conditions and handling hazardous materials. This position also offers cross-utilization opportunities and may require occasional overtime.
The SSMO Warehouse Specialist is an integral part of the supply chain team at Schofield Barracks, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the warehouse and the Army Food Service Program. This position requires strong organizational skills, experience in warehousing, inventory management, and the ability to operate in challenging environmental conditions. The Warehouse Specialist will play a critical role in supporting military logistics and sustainment operations by ensuring the accurate handling, storage, and distribution of materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inventories of all stored materials to ensure accurate stock levels and compliance with Army supply procedures.
- Verify materials and equipment against receiving documents, identifying discrepancies, damages, and deterioration.
- Ensure materials are routed to prescribed storage locations and stored, stacked, or palletized according to Army regulations and safety standards.
- Assist with the shipping, packing, and issuing of materials and supplies to customers.
- Maintain proper documentation of inventory movements and discrepancies for auditing purposes.
- Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to move, store, and organize materials efficiently within the warehouse.
- Use hand tools, powered equipment, and automated inventory technology (AIT) to manage materials.
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational guidelines while using MHE and other tools.
- Adhere to safety, security, and environmental standards in all warehousing operations.
- Handle hazardous materials and hazardous waste, ensuring the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Contribute to maintaining physical security and accountability of supplies within the warehouse.
- Support environmental, safety, and security initiatives as directed by the contract.
- Process documents and reports using Army software programs and other systems to track inventory, supply levels, and material movements.
- Prepare data for monthly and ad hoc reports, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
- Support the completion of paperwork for supply chain transactions, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with Army regulations
- Assist in the execution of Army Food Service Program requirements, including the proper handling and management of food and subsistence items.
- Provide logistical support to U.S. Army National Guard, Reserve Components, and other military customers as needed.
- Perform additional warehouse functions as needed to meet operational needs and requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in warehousing, inventory management, or logistics, with at least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Previous experience working with Army supply and logistics systems is highly desirable.
- Must be able to obtain a favorable government secret clearance within one year.
- Must possess a valid Hawaii State driver’s license.
- Able to handle hazardous materials and wear appropriate PPE as required.
- Previous experience operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and receiving operator certification.
- Experience in supervising and managing warehouse teams in an Army sustainment environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant computer software.
- Familiarity with Automated Information Technology (AIT) systems for inventory and material tracking.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and use hand tools and powered equipment safely.
- Knowledge of Army regulations and company policies.
- Working knowledge of Army supply systems and subsistence management, particularly in relation to food services and ration management.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- The position primarily involves working outdoors, with exposure to heat, dust, cold, and inclement weather.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet operational demands.
- Physical demands include lifting and carrying up to 50+ lbs., stooping, bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching.
- Must operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in performing various warehousing functions.
- The position may require handling hazardous materials and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
