Senior Systems Engineer - Lithium Ion Batteries

Are you a senior systems engineer that is looking for a role within a team comprised of some of the top entrepreneurs, scientists and inventors in the world? At USA Tech Recruitment we are currently working alongside a highly funded and rapidly expanding top Lithium-Ion battery cell manufacturing company to help them hire a senior systems engineer to join their team in Indianapolis, Indiana. Responsibilities: Develop product requirements and specifications for battery energy storage systems (ESS). Manage the full lifecycle of ESS products, from concept design to validation and deployment, including: Defining requirements, architecture, and specifications. Conducting simulations and designing experiments. Leading design reviews and performing DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis). Overseeing validation, root-cause analysis, and system integration. Actively participate in technical meetings (formal and informal), ensuring assignments are followed up to completion, and documenting minutes and action items when leading. Contribute to business development meetings by applying expertise in product specifications, industry standards, and regulatory codes to evaluate customer requirements. Travel domestically and internationally up to 20%. Maintain flexibility to accommodate additional hours and global time zone availability as needed. Skills and Experience: Over 3 years of experience in engineering design and development. At least 1 year of experience in project, program, or product management. Strong foundation in scientific and engineering principles, including signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC). Expertise in materials, design, analysis, fabrication, prototyping, and manufacturing processes. Proficient in PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), DFM (Design for Manufacturing), simulation, experimentation, and data analysis. Experience with CAE tools such as ANSYS and Simulink. Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities. Skilled in creating mathematical models, conducting parametric studies, and performing simulations. Familiar with control logic documentation standards, flow diagrams, and communication protocols. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proven ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects effectively. Self-driven with a focus on continuous improvement in design and problem-solving techniques. Commitment to high team performance and customer satisfaction. Thrives in fast-paced environments and consistently meets aggressive deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a positive attitude and enthusiasm. Experienced in working with diverse teams and personalities, sharing knowledge, and mentoring others. Open to feedback and able to act on guidance from management and colleagues. Preferred Skills & Experience: Experience with embedded firmware/software and software application development. Knowledge of lithium-ion battery systems engineering. Familiarity with high-voltage electrical systems integration. Automotive CAN communication experience.
