Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Under the direction of the Psychologist-Ill in coordination with the inpatient unit director the Level II Psychologist provides direct assessment, evaluations, and treatment to behavioral health patients and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team in planning and providing care in various modalities, with particular emphasis on use of evidence-based practices. The Level II psychologist will also provide clinical supervision to psychology trainees, if any and may participate in the training of other professionals such as psychiatric residents in the areas of psychology, psychological assessment, research, and treatment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•Completes thorough psychiatric assessments, risk assessments, and mental status exams on individual patients
•Provide direct clinical care and psychological services using various modalities, including individual, family, milieu, and group therapy.
•Provides psychological consultation to the treatment team.
•Performs psychological assessments: Selects, administers, scores, analyzes and interprets psychological test batteries.
•Administers standardized intelligence, educational, personality, and adaptive behavior assessments as needed.
•May perform neuropsychological assessments if credentialed to do so.
•Provides written psychological reports based on the assessments as needed.
•Documents assessments, progress notes, clinical activities, in the electronic medical records (EPIC).
•Crafts and contributes to the treatment plans for patients.
•Serves as active member of an interdisciplinary treatment team and consults with other disciplines regarding diagnoses, prognoses, interventions, and recommendations for the disposition of individual cases
•Provide clinical supervision to psychology trainees (externs and Psychologists-in-Training)
•Develops and implements behavior management plans.
•Participates in Program Improvement activities (QAPI)
•Participates in and contributes to research projects and program development
•May provide didactic training and other educational opportunities to trainees from other disciplines
•Participate in Psychology Department activities, including attending monthly meetings, creating and revising psychology training programs and their policies, assisting with trainee recruitment efforts, providing didactics, and other tasks as assigned by the director of psychology, in collaboration with the clinical director of inpatient services.
•Performs miscellaneous tasks that are assigned by the Chief of Psychiatry and the Associate Executive Director of Behavioral Health Services.

Minimum Qualifications

For Appointment to Assignment to Level II:
1. Valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED; or
2. Proof of passing licensing examination and proof that completed license application and all supporting documentation have been submitted to NYSED, which leads to licensure and registration, within six (6) months.
