Leidos is looking for a
Network Solutions Architect
to become a vital part of our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, contributing to complex IT environments. PROGRAM SUMMARY: The DES program operates on a high-demand mission, requiring skilled technical and management expertise to facilitate DISA's enterprise IT services. Your role will involve a significant IT discovery, design, and migration initiative aimed at establishing a Single Service Provider model for the Department of Defense. You will be engaged in critical analysis and design efforts necessary to consolidate common IT services from various large-scale DoD agencies into DoDNet. security clearance or above. (US Citizenship required) PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Engineered secure network solutions to unify connectivity services under an enterprise approach. Collaborated with key stakeholders and technical experts for legacy environment discovery, evaluating current capabilities, configurations, and unique requirements, to create informed architecture based on approved patterns. Designed secure wide area connectivity, focusing on underlay, overlay, and COI transport design that fulfills performance, quality of service, security, and mission specifications. Developed innovative secure access solutions utilizing wired and wireless technologies, integrating standards and use cases while formulating implementation and transition plans. Incorporated capacity planning and scalability considerations into the network and security stacks to align with overall design strategies. Conducted thorough analysis to identify optimization strategies and techniques for meeting capacity and performance benchmarks. Analyzed legacy service pathways (i.e., data flow, firewall rules, and ACLs) and produced strategic designs for future enterprise service capabilities, balancing security, sustainability, and maintainability. Contributed to the development of IP addressing schemes encompassing both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Worked alongside information assurance teams to confirm compliance with DoD standards and assisted in preparing accreditation artifacts. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 12-15 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 10-13 years of experience (additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree). Network certification meeting or exceeding CCNA standards (equivalent vendor certifications acceptable upon review). Active DoD IAT Level II (e.g., Security+) certification or equivalent required before employment begins. Proficient in documenting logical and physical designs using drawing tools (e.g., Visio, PowerPoint, Gliffy), illustrating systems, subsystems, interfaces, components, and communications of IT applications and infrastructure. Skilled at executing technical troubleshooting to resolve network issues efficiently. Experience in conducting site surveys or analyzing data from such assessments. Background in creating or implementing migration plans to transition circuits, network traffic, services, applications, or data to other environments or cloud services. Extensive experience in upgrading and lifecycle refresh of network equipment. Broad knowledge of standard IT infrastructure networking, including LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, IPSec, VPN, Proxies, Routing (L2/L3), and Firewalls. Experience working with multiple vendor network technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, F5, Aruba, Palo Alto, Dell, Brocade, and Fortinet. Demonstrated ability in designing and implementing medium to large-scale network infrastructure while producing detailed technical documentation. Capable of collaborating in a team to troubleshoot and resolve complex networking challenges. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the drafting of SOPs and technical documentation. Able to communicate effectively with executive leadership on matters of significance to the organization or project. Proficient in presenting designs and plans for approval to technical leadership and boards. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certification as Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) or the equivalent. Experience with enterprise network management tools such as Palo Alto Panorama, SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, or Junos Space. Background in designing and implementing VTC solutions. Familiarity with ScienceLogic SL1 and/or SolarWinds. Hands-on experience with SD-WAN technologies. Expertise in designing and enhancing complex and geographically diverse enterprise networks. In-depth understanding of DoD security requirements related to network infrastructure. Demonstrable experience in hardening network systems, including the implementation of DoD STIG requirements.
