Job Summary:

The Dietician PRN provides nutritional education and nutritional patient care to assigned patient populations. Screens patients for nutritional risk Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities: Screens patients for nutritional risk. Assesses patient nutritional status. Develops individualized care plans in accordance with the patient's disease state, nutritional status, physical, emotional and social needs. Assesses the nutritional status of patients and develops nutritional care plans in accordance with patient preferences, age, disease state, and resources. Schedules follow up assessments and appointments at appropriate intervals to monitor progress. Consults with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary care team. Documents pertinent objective and subjective data pertaining to patient status and care. Instructs, educates and counsels with patients and their significant others in nutritional therapy. Reviews and develops patient educational materials for appropriateness and current practice guidelines. Conducts group educational events. Prioritizes patient care activities, and implements or recommends appropriate changes to improve practice protocols and clinical practice guidelines. Serves as a nutritional resource person to other health care professionals, interns, trainees, community civic groups, media, etc. Conducts in-services, authors publications, conducts research to contribute to the education and understanding of the science of nutrition. Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

One of the following qualification groupings is required for this position as indicated below:

Bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics from an accredited college or university. Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (or Registry eligible with registration acquired within 90 days of employment). Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians within 6 months of employment.

OR Bachelor's degree in any field of study but has completed the requirements of the specified dietetics program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (or Registry eligible with registration acquired within 90 days of employment). Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians within 6 months of employment.
