The Clinical Coordinator-Sepsis works to ensure that the work is organized and communicated to the stakeholders and that the goals for the Sepsis project are attained. Typical Duties: Accomplishes strategic objectives and goals within a specified timeframe to maintain certification. Creates data collection tools and leads in the gathering of data. Monitors quality utilization and implementation of data to achieve established targets. Lead efforts to maintain the organization's Joint Commission Sepsis certification. Leads in the implementation and evaluation of education for team members on program metrics and protocols. Leads in the research and development of new patient care protocols and provides staff support for research activities. Continues to acquire knowledge individually through participation in continuing nursing education activities and membership in professional nursing specialty organizations. Coordinates meetings and provides other forms of communication to provide awareness of organization-wide information. Coordinates special projects as requested. Actively participates on assigned committees through the submission of data and participation in the reporting process. Develops and maintains an effective and productive working relationship with physicians, peers, staff, and other health care disciplines. Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

Master of Science Degree in Nursing within 24 months of hire. Five (5) years of nursing experience. Experience with Sepsis guidelines, data collection, entry, and data analysis.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

Current RN licensure by Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Completion of job-specific orientation program within 90 days. Formal training and/or certification in Lean. Minimally pursue green belt within 12 months of hire.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Two (2) plus years of experience in quality improvement or data collection.
