Admissions Counselor

Allen College is seeking candidates for a full-time Admissions Counselor beginning immediately. The Admissions Counselor reports to the Associate Director of Admissions. This team member is responsible for promoting Allen College and recruiting students by connecting with prospective students through activities such as visiting high schools and college events, attending career fairs, arranging and leading campus tours, and initiating events to attract students to attend Allen College; assisting prospective students with the application process including advising them on pre-requisite coursework and admission requirements and following-up with prospective students regarding missing information or discrepancies; and working with the creative team to develop informational and marketing materials such as brochures/flyers and social media interactions.

In compliance with the Clery Act, Allen College publishes an Annual Security report containing three previous years of crime statistics, institutional policies concerning campus safety, and a fire safety report. The report is available at

Responsibilities Recruitment

Counsel prospective students on admission requirements and processes.

Reviews admission applications and inquiries.

Travels to career fairs and other recruitment opportunities as determined by the recruitment and marketing plan.

Serves as the primary contact for the admissions process with nursing and health sciences prospective students.

Communicates with high school counselors and community colleges regarding programs and admissions requirements.

Provides input for the recruitment and marketing plan with the admissions team.

Works with the creative team to develop informational and marketing materials.

Professional development – keeps updated on all state and federal regulations.

Develops policies and procedures.

Acts as student advocate.

Event Coordination

Coordinates college visit days and tours.

Coordinates student orientations.

Coordinates “Day in the Life” events.

Coordinates and assists with official college functions and activities such as graduation events and other events.

General

Continues professional growth.

Serves on college and health system committees.

Works effectively with the daily mental and physical stresses of the job which includes, but not limited to meeting deadlines, attending meetings, completing compliance requirements, and meeting and collaborating with staff, faculty, students, and the public.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Student Services, Marketing, or related field, with particular attention to higher education.

Two years of experience in recruitment, admissions or sales with preference given to those with experience in a college environment.

Ability to prioritize work and function under specific instructions.

Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with others.

Able to manage large volumes of work with attention to accuracy and detail; able to work with interruptions and meet deadlines.

Ability to schedule, meet and maintain routines and deadlines and maintain integrity of records.

Ability to anticipate problems and bring forth solutions.
