Full-Time Grants Writer Salary Range: $57,000 - $62,000About Pawsperity:Since 2016, Pawsperity has been helping uplift families from generational poverty through job training in the art of dog grooming. Pawsperity serves some of the community's most vulnerable members, including individuals often coming from backgrounds of domestic violence, addiction, incarceration, and homelessness.About the Position:The Grant Writer is an integral member of Pawsperity's Development and Communications team. Along with the Grants Manager and contract grant writers, the position is a key contributor to achieving the organization's $1.4 million annual grant goal. The Grant Writer is responsible for building and managing a personal portfolio of foundation and government funders, including grant writing, and reporting, prospect research and cultivation, and funder relationship management. The position serves as the voice of Pawsperity to foundations and other funders. Reports to Grants Manager.Essential Responsibilities include:Grant Writing and ReportingDevelop and draft compelling and dynamic grant proposals, including budgets and timelines.Collaborate with staff to gather necessary information for proposal writing and developmentDevelop progress and final reports to institutional funders and work with budget staff in preparing program budgets and monitoring grant-related expenditures.Grants ManagementSupport the project management of proposal and report submissions, including:Develop timelines for proposals and reports.Manage the multiple components that are required for a final submission.Ensure all submissions are high quality and accurate. Take responsibility for deadlines.Coordinate and maintain funder documentation requirements, including completing administrative paperwork for government, corporate and foundation grants.Review grant agreements and monitor and update grants calendar.outline and track grant deliverables.ResearchConduct comprehensive prospecting research on foundations, corporate, and government funders.Maintain accurate prospect information in grants management systems, including funder interest areas, proposal deadlines, and relevant contact information.Relationship Building/ManagementInitiate contacts and develop relationships with foundation program officers and other key stakeholders. Determine funder interests and fit with Pawsperity's mission.Cultivate and maintain funder relationships to ensure funder retention through regular phone, email and/or in-person contactServe as the voice and face of Pawsperity to foundations through school tours and events; setting a strong example of professionalism, work completion and quality, and commitment to organizational goals and ethics.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in English or related field with extensive writing background.At least 2 years grant writing experience.Proven experience with research, grants management, reporting, and funder relationships.Team player with positive, cooperative attitude.Ability to work independently to produce high quality work product and manage multiple projects and relationships.Experience with Federal grants a plus, but not required.Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:Superior written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated success in research, grant writing and funder relationships.Quick learner with the ability to develop a solid understanding of content, processes, deliverables, and overall objectives, and the ability to summarize into coherent, concise, persuasive content.Passion for Pawsperity's mission, with a deep commitment to helping families exit poverty and achieve lifelong success.Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, with a focus on systems, process, and results.Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.Personal value system that includes the highest standards of honesty, confidentiality, integrity, loyalty, and professional ethics reflective of the ability to succeed in building and maintaining positive relationships with the community.Benefits:Generous Health Savings Account ($3,600)Health InsuranceEmployee assistance programDental insuranceVision InsuranceLife insurancePaid time offRetirement plan
