Cyber Data Engineer

Herndon, VA . As a Cyber Data Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for making data available, accessible, and secure to stakeholders. Join a team that creates data pipelines to collect and convert raw Cyber related data into formats usable by our cyber analysts and data scientists. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, and optimize systems for data collection, storage, access, and analytics at enterprise scale. Build and operationalize complex data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing and quality solutions. Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for complex defects and incidents and correct as appropriate. Collaborate within and across teams to support delivery and educate end users on complex data products/analytic environment. Operate and manage a custom codebase and its integration with open-source and vendor data platforms and products. Perform analysis of complex sources to determine value and use and recommend data to include in analytical processes. Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security and data quality. Test data movement, transformation code, and data components. Create robust and resilient data pipelines to connect data sources to analytics tools. Platform support including problem solving and debugging, especially for production issues. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of hands-on experience in an enterprise-scale environment. Experience with software engineering using Python and software version control systems such as Git. Experience developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining complex information technology applications, systems or services. Experience working with various file formats like JSON, XML or similar. Experience with data platforms like Elasticsearch/Kibana or Splunk. Experience with data ETL pipeline including extraction, transformation, normalization, enrichment, correlation, and storage. Experience or formal education in Cybersecurity or relevant certifications. High School diploma. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in analyzing and defining local and enterprise information system requirements, performing system or application design, developing capability prototypes, and transitioning applications to production. Experience with Cloud services (e.g., Lambdas, EC2s, and S3). Experience briefing others on your findings and recommendations. Ability to collaborate with others who are conducting research in the same, similar, or different areas.
