About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Development for the College of Engineering. The successful candidate will be a key player in the Office of Development & Alumni Relations, with a primary focus on securing philanthropic resources to support the educational mission. This role involves independently managing a large portfolio of high-value prospects and donors, including individuals and corporate entities, and is responsible for all stages of the giving cycle, from identification to stewardship. The Executive Director will work closely with the Dean of the College of Engineering and other university leaders to understand funding priorities, engage in strategic advancement activities, and build strong donor relationships. Essential functions include a high level of strategic thinking, creativity, and the ability to meet significant fundraising goals. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years' experience in the advancement field, preferably in a higher education setting. Essential skills include exceptional writing, speaking, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects, make decisions, and meet deadlines. The role requires the candidate to be adept at problem-solving, to exercise discretion with confidential information, and to be available for regional and national travel, as well as evening and weekend work. A successful candidate will be expected to have a strong background in constituent relations and fundraising for higher education, and the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including successful alumni, wealthy families, and corporate leaders.
