Job SummaryReporting to the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations, this position is the primary development officer for the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS). The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Assistant Dean, faculty and other development staff to perform the primary tasks required to support the activities of major gift solicitations and a secondary role supporting alumni relations activities.

Minimum Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree with five or more years of fundraising experience.

Preferred Education and ExperienceCandidates should possess a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and at least five to seven years of development expertise including experience with major gift solicitations and relationship management. Demonstrated experience with managing high-level relationships is required. Candidates must also possess outstanding speaking, writing, and time-management skills. The position requires occasional evening/weekend hours, as well as some travel. Salary will be commensurate with experience, education, and abilities.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Director of Development will work directly with the Assistant Dean, staff, and individual faculty as needed to arrange speaking opportunities, events, tours of research laboratories and other facilities that will build mutually beneficial relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations to further the mission of The Jonsson School and the University to support UTD's mission to deliver an extremely high-quality public education to the DFW Region.

A successful candidate will show an interest in creating a collaborative, open-minded and trust-filled environment that supports the Jonsson School's efforts across the UT Dallas Campus and the DFW Region. The successful candidate should possess a passion for public education and for the fields of engineering and computer science. In addition, he/she should possess a high level of respect for all people and a customer service mentality that emphasizes the importance of relationships. The Director of Development will have a commitment to self-improvement and continuously improve their leadership, skills, and knowledge through a relentless pursuit of perfection.

Advise individuals, foundations, and corporations with the capacity and interest to make a major philanthropic commitment in support of the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a pool of individual prospects and document all prospect activity in the University's alumni and donor management database. In addition, the successful candidate should manage and build a portfolio of potential or qualified major gift prospects. Travel as needed throughout North Texas and other regions where large concentrations of potential donors are located. Some international travel might be required.

Collaborate with other staff in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, including marketing, communications, annual giving, gift planning, and corporate and foundation relations to develop effective approaches to major gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Remote Work Notice:Hybrid remote work environment available and a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment. Must be located within the State of Texas (or Must be located within the DFW Area) and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice.
