This full-time, Non Civil Service position is located with the Department of Law and provides advanced litigation support services for a team of attorneys. Performs related duties as required.

Typical Duties
Assists attorneys on prosecution of Metro Codes violations in Environmental Court on a weekly basis.
Drafts and reviews pleadings, orders, and other legal documents.
Responds to emails and phone calls from clients, citizens, and attorneys.
Assists with preparations for court hearings.
Researches matters upon request.
Assists attorneys by taking notes, organizing files, and performing administrative tasks.
Files, serves, and delivers documents with courts and parties and witnesses.
Establishes and maintains files and records.
Manages databases.
Performs other law related support services as required.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Paralegal Certificate and two (2) years of experience in a legal field
LICENSE REQUIRED
Valid Driver's License
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the fundamentals of civil law and legal procedures
Knowledge of the fundamentals of the Tennessee court structure and the legal system of the United States
Knowledge of legal writing and research techniques
Ability to multi-task and manage a volume of cases
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to adapt in fast-paced environment
